Virtual reality

Also known as: VRIn Portuguese: Realidade virtual

Short definition

Virtual reality (VR) is a technology that replaces what a person sees and hears with a generated or filmed environment, shown in a dedicated headset that follows the movements of the head.

In plain language

In virtual reality, the person no longer sees the space around them and instead sees another place, either real or computer-generated. The headset detects where the head is turned and updates the image, which gives the feeling of being somewhere else. In healthcare it is studied, for example, as a form of distraction during painful procedures or as a stimulus for people with reduced mobility.

In practice, in an RVer session

In RVer, virtual reality is used with filmed 360° video, in seated or lying-down sessions that are always supervised by the team.
