Virtual environment

Also known as: VE, virtual settingIn Portuguese: Ambiente virtual

Short definition

A virtual environment is the space presented to the person in virtual reality, whether computer-generated or filmed in 360° video.

In plain language

It can be a beach, a simulated waiting room, a village street or an abstract space. Computer-generated environments allow interaction and free movement; filmed ones show real places, but with limited interaction. In healthcare, the choice of environment depends on the goal: calming, prompting memories, exercising or gradual exposure to a feared situation.

In practice, in an RVer session

In the Companion app, the team chooses the environment from the RVer library and sees what the user sees.
