Occupational therapy
Short definition
Occupational therapy is the health profession that helps people take part in the daily activities that matter to them, such as self-care or leisure, by adapting the activity or the environment.
In plain language
The occupational therapist looks at the person in their context: what they need and want to do, and what stops them. They may train how to get dressed after a stroke, recommend assistive products or adapt the home. In dementia, they help maintain routines and meaningful activities.
