Motor rehabilitation

Also known as: physical rehabilitation, functional rehabilitationIn Portuguese: Reabilitação motora

Short definition

Motor rehabilitation is the set of interventions that seek to recover, maintain or compensate for strength, range of motion, coordination, balance and gait after illness, injury or loss of function.

In plain language

It is led mainly by physiotherapists, with physical and rehabilitation medicine doctors and occupational therapists. It is based on repeated, progressive exercise with functional goals, such as being able to stand up from a chair again. It is central, for example, after a stroke, a fracture or in a condition such as Parkinson's disease.

In practice, in an RVer session

RVer Motion, for guided exercise with repetition counting and range-of-motion recording, is in development and outside the medical device registration.
