Cognitive rehabilitation

Also known as: cognitive trainingIn Portuguese: Reabilitação cognitiva

Short definition

Cognitive rehabilitation is an individualised intervention that seeks to improve, maintain or compensate for affected cognitive functions, such as attention, memory or executive functions, with goals linked to daily life.

In plain language

It differs from cognitive stimulation in being aimed at specific difficulties and the person's concrete goals, such as managing their medication or diary again. It may combine exercises and compensatory strategies (diaries, alarms, routines). It is used after stroke or head injury and in the early stages of neurodegenerative diseases.

In practice, in an RVer session
