Gamification
Short definition
Gamification is the use of elements typical of games, such as points, levels, challenges or rewards, in activities that are not games, to increase motivation.
In plain language
In healthcare, it is used to make repetitive rehabilitation or cognitive stimulation exercises more appealing. It can help maintain adherence, but it is not always appropriate: visible scores and failures can cause frustration or anxiety. Its use should therefore take into account the clinical goal and the person.
In practice, in an RVer session
RVer Exposure, a module in development and outside the registration, has no scoring: the clinician decides progression between levels.
