GDPR
Short definition
The GDPR is Regulation (EU) 2016/679, which lays down the rules protecting natural persons in the processing of their personal data throughout the European Union, applicable since 25 May 2018.
In plain language
It sets out principles such as lawfulness, purpose limitation and data minimisation, rights such as access and erasure, and obligations for those who process data. Health data receive enhanced protection. In Portugal it is supplemented by Law 58/2019, and the supervisory authority is the CNPD. An institution introducing a digital technology into care should know what personal data it collects and where they are kept.
In practice, in an RVer session
With RVer headsets, no user data leaves the device: the server receives only per-device statistics. Video calls with family are not recorded.
