What the piece says
Journalist Daniela Franco Sousa writes about Amplified Creations — a Leiria company, founded in 2015, five people — and about RVer, the virtual reality system for assisted clinical use that we registered with Infarmed as a medical device. The piece sums up the three uses the system has in the field: comfort and distraction during procedures, reducing anxiety before examinations, and stimulation activity with older people.
It is the same description we use in our proposals. There is nothing new to announce here — and that is what we like about the piece.
The sentence that matters
From the article: «The session is always run by a health professional from the institution itself.»
If a single line were to travel out of here, it would be this one. RVer is not a 360° video player handed to a patient and left running. It is an assisted clinical system: the institution's care team picks the content, runs the session, stops it when it needs stopping, and records it. The headset is the least interesting part.
That is also where the limits come from. It does not treat, does not diagnose, does not assess, and replaces no medical care. It is a non-pharmacological complement, always under the supervision of the care team.
Where we actually are
The piece mentions national and international expansion, and that is true — it is the plan. On current geography, the map is this: the head office is in Leiria, there is a second office in Lisbon, and the team travels for installation and training. As for clients, the institutions using the system are spread across several parts of the country rather than concentrated in one region, although today they all sit from Lisbon northwards. Meetings happen online and the system lives at the institution itself, so geography constrains little about who can work with us.
Not the first time
This is worth reading as a series, not as a one-off:
- 2022 — the Jornal de Leiria follows the residents of Casa das Janelas Verdes, in Alpedriz. The system did not yet have the name it has today.
- 2024 — SIC Notícias and the Jornal de Leiria visit the Palliative Care unit in Leiria. The most requested destination is Fátima. That same month the Diário de Leiria runs its own piece in print.
- 2026 — today's piece, now with the medical device registration done.
Four years between the first report and this one. That was the time it took to turn something that worked into something that can be installed, documented and defended in front of a regulator.
