Short definition

Infarmed (National Authority of Medicines and Health Products, I. P.) is the Portuguese competent authority for medicines and health products, including medical devices.

In plain language

It regulates and supervises these products in Portugal: it receives registrations of manufacturers and devices, oversees vigilance and incident reports and carries out market surveillance. It is also the national point of contact in the European medical device system. Professionals and members of the public can report problems with medical devices to it.

In practice, in an RVer session

The RVer base product is registered with Infarmed as a Class I medical device, under CDM no. 94571546.
