Stereoscopic video

Also known as: 3D video, stereoscopic 360° videoIn Portuguese: Vídeo estereoscópico

Short definition

Stereoscopic video is video with a slightly different image for each eye, which creates the perception of depth.

In plain language

It mimics the way we see: each eye captures the world from a slightly different angle and the brain merges the two images. In 360° video this requires cameras with pairs of lenses, and the result gives more sense of volume than monoscopic video, in which both eyes see the same image. Poorly aligned stereoscopic footage can cause visual discomfort.
