Data concerning health

Also known as: health data, special category dataIn Portuguese: Dados de saúde

Short definition

Data concerning health are personal data related to a person's physical or mental health, including the provision of care, that reveal information about their health status (GDPR, Article 4(15)).

In plain language

They are a «special category» of data under the GDPR (Article 9): processing them is prohibited as a rule, except in the cases provided for, such as the provision of health or social care by professionals bound by confidentiality, or explicit consent. A diagnosis, a recorded pain score or a note that a service user has epilepsy are all health data. They require enhanced security measures and, often, an impact assessment.

In practice, in an RVer session

In RVer, the assigned user's contraindications are used to remove content, and no user data leaves the device: the server receives only per-device statistics.
