Eye tracking

Also known as: gaze trackingIn Portuguese: Rastreamento ocular

Short definition

Eye tracking is the ability of some virtual reality headsets to detect where the person is looking, using sensors facing the eyes.

In plain language

It can be used to control the interface with one's gaze, to concentrate resolution where the eye is focused (foveated rendering) or to study visual attention. In research it is used, for example, to analyse patterns of visual exploration. Gaze data can be sensitive personal data, which requires care in how it is processed.
