Refresh rate

Also known as: display refresh rate, HzIn Portuguese: Taxa de atualização

Short definition

Refresh rate is the number of times per second that the displays of a virtual reality headset show a new image, measured in hertz (Hz).

In plain language

A higher rate makes motion smoother when the person turns their head. Low rates or dropped frames can make the experience uncomfortable and contribute to cybersickness. The display refresh rate is not the same as the frame rate of a video (fps), although both affect smoothness.
