Social innovation

Also known as: Portugal Inovação Social, social investmentIn Portuguese: Inovação social

Short definition

Social innovation is the development of new, or significantly improved, responses to social problems that create value for the community and are more effective than existing solutions.

In plain language

In Portugal it is supported by the Portugal Inovação Social initiative, which in the 2030 period opens calls through the regional programmes. Instruments such as the Social Innovation Partnerships fund projects by social economy organisations that have a social investor co-funding them, such as a company or a foundation. One example is a project bringing new forms of stimulation and social contact to isolated older people.
