Contraindication

Also known as: contra-indicationIn Portuguese: Contraindicação

Short definition

A contraindication is a situation or condition of the person in which a device, medicine or intervention should not be used, because the risk may outweigh the benefit.

In plain language

For medical devices, contraindications are part of the information the manufacturer must provide, notably in the instructions for use. They can be absolute (do not use) or relative (use with caution and case-by-case assessment). In virtual reality, photosensitive epilepsy is a frequently cited example.

In practice, in an RVer session

In RVer AI, the assigned user's contraindications remove content from the suggestions, and photosensitivity always excludes.
