Direct award

Also known as: ajuste direto, single-source procurementIn Portuguese: Ajuste direto

Short definition

Direct award (ajuste direto) is the Public Contracts Code procedure in which the contracting authority directly invites one entity of its choice to submit a tender.

In plain language

It is the simplest and quickest procedure. Under the value rule, since 1 October 2026 (Decree-Law 177/2026) it can be used to purchase goods and services when the estimated contract value is below €75,000 (previously €20,000); for public works the limit is different. It is also allowed, regardless of value, in specific situations set out in law, such as extreme urgency. There are limits on repeatedly inviting the same entity.

In practice, in an RVer session

Because the headsets belong to RVer, what is contracted is a service, not an equipment purchase.
