A power socket
To charge the headset between uses, close to the rooms where it is used. No dedicated socket and no building work needed.
Implementation guideWhat to prepare, who does what, and what the team should know before the first bedside session: with the family in the room or at a distance, and when the patient no longer communicates. Made to be printed and pinned up.
ForPalliative care
The list is deliberately short. RVer runs independently and needs no integration with your institution’s systems. Only the family video call needs internet.
To charge the headset between uses, close to the rooms where it is used. No dedicated socket and no building work needed.
No special room needed. The session happens in bed or in an armchair, with Lying-down mode when the patient cannot sit up.
Someone on the team who takes responsibility for the headset and who we train. No technical knowledge required.
Scenarios play 100% offline. The family video call needs a connection: it is routed through the RVer server and is not recorded anywhere.
The headset arrives with the app installed and the scenario library loaded. Team training is included and needs no technical knowledge.
Whoever will accompany the sessions tries the headset lying down, with Lying-down mode on, to know what the patient will see and feel.
At the bedside, short, with a calm scenario chosen with the patient or the family, and a professional alongside from start to finish.
In bed or in an armchair, with Lying-down mode if the patient is lying down or reclined. The team decides the length, session by session, according to the patient’s condition.
Whenever possible, the patient chooses: a place they lived, the sea, a place of worship. The family can help. RVer can suggest, but it does not prescribe, assess or diagnose.
On a video call, the family sees on a phone or computer the same scenario the patient is seeing, and the patient sees and hears them inside the experience. The call is routed through the RVer server and nothing is stored.
When the family is there, they can sit alongside and talk about what the patient is seeing. Some prefer not to put the headset on and simply be together: that is the patient’s decision.
A slightly damp wipe on the silicone cover, a dry microfibre cloth on the lenses, and the headset back on charge. That is all.
Automatic, at any hour, never mid-session. At no extra cost.
Class I medical device (base product) · CE marked (MDR 2017/745) · registered in EUDAMED (Basic UDI-DI 56006195127RVERTZ) and with INFARMED (Portugal, CDM 94571546). Follow these points every session.
Always use the RVer system under supervision; never leave the user alone with the headset.
Between users, wipe the silicone cover (one washable cover comes with the kit) with a slightly damp wipe, and clean the lenses only with a dry microfibre cloth, no liquids or alcohol.
Stop if dizziness, nausea or discomfort appears. Start with short sessions and calm videos, then increase duration and intensity gradually.
Prefer seated use in a clear, stable space. For bedridden users, enable Lying-down mode.
Set a volume that is comfortable for the user before starting, on the headset itself.
Playback runs 100% offline, no accounts. No clinical or personal patient data leaves the headset. Only per-device usage statistics are sent, identifying no one, to improve the app · GDPR-compliant.
Caution or prior clinical assessment in: severe motion sickness or vestibular disorders; uncontrolled epilepsy or photosensitive seizures; inability to follow safety instructions.
Healthcare professionals and trained carers, in health or social-care settings. The user is always supervised. Not for self-administration.
Report any serious incident to the manufacturer (hi@rver.pt) and to INFARMED, I.P.
RVer can help manage anxiety and pain as a complement, but it does not replace any care. When the patient can no longer say how they feel, the team has to see it.
Without words, discomfort still shows: a tense face, moaning, restlessness, hands going to the headset, a change in breathing. At the first sign, take the headset off gently and stop the session.
Short sessions, calm scenarios and a low volume to begin with. A professional stays beside the patient for the whole session.
Whether a session makes sense, and when, is the team’s decision, listening to the family whenever possible. If in doubt, do not use it.
Comfort and distraction through immersive experiences (nature, travel, memories) for patients in end-of-life care.
Calm immersive environments, used as a non-pharmacological complement in anxiety and stress contexts.
Safe, controllable environments, used as non-pharmacological support under the healthcare team's supervision.
To pin up next to wherever the headset is stored.
